The instructor said, Go home and write a page tonight. And let that page come out of you--- Then, it will be true.
I wonder if it's that simple? I am 14, born in Havelock I went to school here, then Tucker Creek then here to this early-college I am one of twenty some freshmen in my class I go home each day to nothing I work on homework until it’s night Classmates each day bring in stories of hunting, sports, and other things and each day I have nothing to contribute Each day I return home to go through the same routine The same routine I am running right now Walking through the front door and up the stairs up to same room, where I sit down in the same chair, and write this page: It's not easy to know what is true for me at 14, my age. But I I'm not what Surrounds me and is everywhere around me While others go out to sports events and celebrations I like to stay home away from the noise I like to eat, sleep, stay on the computer, and stay inside. I like to listen, read, learn, and think. I like staying in, avoiding things everyone wants to do such as play sports or going into the woods---Shooting and hunting I guess born here doesn't make me like the same things other folks like who are born here just like me So will my page be boring like so many other things in my life Being me, it probably will But it will be different, uncommon You are different--- yet your are similar to me, as I am to you. That's American. Sometimes perhaps you don't want to be like me I do not usually want to be a part of you But we are, that's true! As I take from you, I guess you take from me--- although you're outgoing---and different--- and somewhat more free. This is my page for English B.

Go home and write
a page tonight.
And let that page come out of you---
Then, it will be true.
I wonder if it's that simple?
I am 14, born in Havelock
I went to school here, then Tucker Creek then here
to this early-college
I am one of twenty some freshmen in my class
I go home each day to nothing
I work on homework until it’s night
Classmates each day bring in stories of hunting, sports, and other things
and each day I have nothing to contribute
Each day I return home to go through the same routine
The same routine I am running right now
Walking through the front door and up the stairs
up to same room, where I sit down in the same chair, and write this page:
It's not easy to know what is true for me
at 14, my age. But I I'm not what
Surrounds me and is everywhere around me
While others go out to sports events and celebrations
I like to stay home away from the noise
I like to eat, sleep, stay on the computer, and stay inside.
I like to listen, read, learn, and think.
I like staying in, avoiding things everyone wants to do such as play sports
or going into the woods---Shooting and hunting
I guess born here doesn't make me like
the same things other folks like who are born here just like me
So will my page be boring like so many other things in my life
Being me, it probably will
But it will be
different, uncommon
You are different---
yet your are similar to me, as I am to you.
That's American.
Sometimes perhaps you don't want to be like me
I do not usually want to be a part of you
But we are, that's true!
As I take from you,
I guess you take from me---
although you're outgoing---and different---
and somewhat more free.
